Kiril Kuzmanov was a civil engineer, before starting his career as a .NET junior developer in Coherent Solutions. At present, he is a Team Lead in the .NET Department, happy to support his colleagues and be part of the company’s open culture.

Nikolay Danekov did not have professional practice as a Java backend developer, before joining Coherent Solutions’ Java Training Centre. The training helped him gain new skills and feel ready for his first project in the company, which was the start of his career as a Java Developer.

Kiril Kuzmanov and Nikolay Danekov talk about their professional paths and the benefits of working in an amazing team with similar-minded people who help each other advance.

Share with us your career path at Coherent Solutions.

Kiril: Shortly after graduating from a .NET software academy I started as a junior .NET developer in Coherent Solutions Bulgaria. First, I got a specialised education in the company’s Training Center for around 4 months. The training was covering SQL, Java Script, .NET Core, and in the end, I had to complete a real project. After finishing the course at the Training Center, I joined a project for one of our clients.

Nikolay: I started at Coherent Solutions in July 2020 as part of the Java Training Center. Previously I was an embedded developer and decided to move to backend development. I had experience in programming but had no professional practice as a Java backend developer, so the training really helped me to build a strong foundation and be prepared for the challenges of working on a project. After successfully finishing the training, my Group Manager selected a project for me, which was an excellent fit. The project wasn’t too big for my little experience but was technically advanced and challenging enough to push me towards improvement. I worked on this project for about a year and then I started on a different one, which is a lot bigger and presents a lot more challenges and opportunities.

How did you develop at Coherent Solutions? What is your biggest achievement? How did the company help you in your career journey?

K: My previous experience before switching the career and becoming a developer was in civil engineering. Therefore, I was happy to start on a project in a construction business domain at Coherent Solutions.

I was guided by my teammates and with their help, I've managed to get into the project and to work with confidence on my own. After 1,5 years I became a team-lead in the .NET department. Now I have the chance to support my colleagues, which is a great feeling and experience for me.

N: While I was working on my project, I got an offer to start as a trainer in the developing branch of the Training Center in Sofia. I consider this as my biggest achievement since I got the trust and recognition to help others who are following a similar career path as me. I also enjoy working in the Training Center because to me it’s like giving back for the support and guidance that really helped me in my professional journey.

What do you like about working at Coherent Solutions and why is it the right place for you?

K: I enjoy working in Coherent Solutions for the company’s open culture and the relations with my colleagues. It's a great place to work with amazing people. Even though we are more than 2,000 employees, we have an open-door policy where you can reach out to the management team anytime.

N: What I like the most about working in Coherent Solutions is the people. I found a lot of similar-minded people that help each other to advance. I found a lot of friends, not just colleagues. I found a community that was not created artificially. The people make it worth it to go to the office, even though there is the option to work remotely from home. I am also very happy with the Group Management programme which really helped me stay motivated and progress. Of course, no working place is perfect, but here I have found my place where I can grow not only professionally, but also socially and as a person.
