DARE TO GO BEYOND THE STANDARD WITH DARE ARCHITECTS

When architects Stanislav Stanislavov and Daniel Dimitrov founded Dare Architects in 2018, they had a clear understanding of what they wanted to achieve as professionals. Their ambition was to unite their creativity and expertise within a coherent team capable of delivering outstanding projects for clients with a vision for modernity, comfort and responsibility towards the environment.

Less than ten years later, the team has already realized an impressive portfolio of buildings not only in Bulgaria but also abroad. Yet they continue to dream on an even greater scale. The architectural team elaborates.

You have worked with clients in the US. Are there differences when designing for the Bulgarian and the American markets, and if so, what are they?

The main differences when working with international clients lie in the level of trust placed in the architect, the understanding of environmental responsibility, and above all, the scale of thinking and decision-making. Very often, standards are clearer and provide the foundation for a smooth and efficient workflow. Naturally, regulations differ – in some aspects, they are more liberal, while in others, they are more restrictive than those in Bulgaria – and this also affects the design process. An architect can be confident that once trust is earned, clients will return and offer recommendations, confidently affirming that they are a reliable professional choice.

How do you translate the ideas of contemporary architecture into the taste and preferences of each individual client?

Guided by our professional knowledge, skills, and experience, we believe that the client's aspirations and the architect's vision should work in harmony. Even when we begin a project from different perspectives, clients are always convinced that through dialogue and mutual understanding, we can propose solutions that serve a shared benefit. As our studio becomes more recognisable, our clients increasingly understand our style and working approach, as well as the strengths and qualities of our projects.

What is the primary goal you strive to achieve with your projects, regardless of the type of brief or the client's preferences?

We both began our professional careers abroad, where we developed many of our core principles – our aesthetic values and understanding of the architect's role within society. We believe this foundation is what makes us effective and successful in our work. Architects must truly understand people's needs and translate them into thoughtful, meaningful solutions. We consider it our responsibility to be visionaries. We are both capable of and called to improve the quality of life through our fundamental role in the design process.

Are there specific projects you dream of realizing in the future?

Our ambition is to fully embrace the essence of our profession – to serve society and contribute to the advancement of high-quality living environments. This drives us to pursue projects that have a meaningful impact – regardless of their scale, but in terms of significance and benefit to people. We believe that when guided by these principles, an architect can achieve this impact even in small-scale projects, such as a single-family home.
