BIGARENA: LOGISTICS OF SUCCESS

Daniel Tityukov on building the infrastructure behind modern e-commerce

Daniel Tityukov, founder of BigArena

Daniel Tityukov is an entrepreneur with experience in e-commerce. In 2019, he created BigArena, a fulfilment company. Today, it has 7 logistics bases in 6 countries with a combined area of 13,500 sq m and processes over 40,000 products daily. With its own logistics infrastructure and WMS software, BigArena serves about 1,000 e-stores in 27 European countries and has processed over 20 million parcels.

Why do e-commerce companies need flawless fulfilment today?

Because customers now judge more than products and prices: they judge the entire experience, from placing an order to opening the parcel. As an e-commerce business grows, fulfilment quickly becomes a business-critical process. You can have a great product, strong marketing and thousands of orders, but if you cannot process them accurately and on time, growth starts working against you. Our job is to make the complexity behind each order invisible to the customer. For them, it should be simple: they order, receive their parcel and know they can rely on the same experience next time.

How does BigArena achieve this in practice?

We take care of the part of e-commerce that customers never see, but which can determine whether a business grows smoothly or starts struggling. Many companies can handle 100 orders a day. The real question is what happens at 500, 1,000 or 5,000. At BigArena, we have built a system that manages such volumes through our own WMS platform, warehouse network, standardised processes and a team equipped to operate at high intensity. Most importantly, we do not just sell warehouse space. We give e-commerce companies the capacity to grow. They can focus on their products, sales and new markets while we provide the logistics organisation behind every sale.

Which leadership and technical decisions have enabled you to become an international company handling more than 20 million parcels in just a few years?

We realised early on that we could not build a major fulfilment company on solutions designed only for small businesses. So we invested in our own technology, built scalable processes and steadily increased our capacity. We did not wait for volume to force the next step – we tried to be ready for it in advance. The same applies to international growth. When our clients began selling outside Bulgaria, we needed to be able to grow with them. This led to a warehouse network and a presence in markets such as Slovakia, Greece, Spain, Romania, Serbia and others.

But behind the technology and infrastructure are always people. Our team has grown from 90 to more than 150; many of them are directly involved in operations. This is not simply headcount growth; it is a capacity to manage increasingly larger volumes without losing our effectiveness.

Handling more than 20 million parcels is an important achievement, but what matters more to me is how we got there – by continuously building the system that will enable us to handle the next 20 million within a single year.
