SINEMORETS 2023: THE FAMED VILLAGE SEEN THROUGH ARTISTS' EYES

Sinemorets, which name means "blue," is one of the most picturesque parts of the Bulgarian Black Sea cove: a rare combination of pristine beaches, impressive cliffs, a river and thick oak forests. You have probably seen it many times, in person or in photographs, including in this publication.

Now you have the chance to see Sinemorets through the eyes of a group of contemporary Romanian artists. They stayed at the village from 23 May to 11 June on the invitation of Dana and Georgi Voinovi, a family of distinguished philanthropists and art collectors with connections in the Romanian art world.

The 14 artists who participated in the art event in Sinemorets paint an enchanting picture of this seemingly well-known place: a magical world of crisp fig leaves, flowers and sea moss, of charming marine and river scapes and of epic mythological scenes.

Together sharing one space, the artworks manage to slow down the natural flow of time and to prolong summer just enough so that we are able to enjoy it to the full.

The exhibition will be at Sofia Press Art Gallery & Bookstore from 8 to 27 September, on 29 Slavyanska St. The official opening is on 8 September, at 6pm.
