In modern interior design, office spaces are one of the most exciting projects to work on. From avant-garde technologies to new understandings of the safety, comfort and inspiration of the working environment, they are now the spaces where architects and designers need to be intimately familiar with a multitude of processes and principles to ensure a flawless combination of modernity and tradition.

Viktor Banarev, founder of MoVe Architects, is one of the professionals who has successfully captured the current wave in the field and built a practice where creating exceptional office spaces is the norm.

Viktor Banarev, founder of MoVe Architects

His studio has worked for some outstanding Bulgarian and international clients – including abroad – and its successfully completed projects have become a golden standard in the market. We spoke to Mr Banarev to find out more about his studio and its approach to creating bespoke offices for companies that value their brand, their people and their success.

Brand and technology integration, multifunctionality and biophilic design are among the leading global trends in office space. Are there any specific features in this area that are unique to the Bulgarian market?

There is no doubt that global trends influence the Bulgarian market, but there are also local specifics. Bulgarian companies are increasingly aware of the importance of the work environment for employee productivity and well-being. We are seeing a growing interest in flexible spaces that can adapt to different working styles. At the same time, local culture and the smaller size of companies often require customised solutions rather than mass trends.

What is the first thing you do when you start a new project to ensure an exceptional result?

We start with a thorough analysis of the client's needs and expectations. It's not just about creating a beautiful space, but one that really works for the people who use it. We look at how people interact, how they move around the office and what would help them be more productive and inspired. This allows us to develop personalised solutions that have a lasting impact.

What is the secret to a good, popular shared workspace?

The key is to find the right balance between flexibility, comfort and an inspiring atmosphere. Shared workspaces should provide opportunities for different ways of working – quiet zones for concentration, open spaces for communication and comfortable areas for relaxation. Good lighting, acoustics and natural materials also play an important role in creating a quality workspace.

What MoVe Architects projects will be completed in 2025?

We are looking forward to an exciting year! We're working on several major projects, including new office buildings and shared workspaces. Some of our most exciting projects are abroad, involving integrated smart technologies that will provide a fully adaptive working environment. We also expect to complete an innovative creative industries hub that will bring start-ups and established businesses together in one space.

MoVe Architects has built a solid reputation over the years. But what was the project that paved the way for you? What will you remember about it?

One of our most significant projects was our first major corporate office. It was a challenge but also an opportunity to demonstrate our philosophy of functional and sustainable design. Working on this project allowed us to attract new clients and consolidate our position in the market. We remember it with a sense of satisfaction from a job well done and the long-term partnerships we have built as a result.
