Rematrak enters the BEAM market with a new business model
Gena Sabeva is the founder and visionary of Rematrak AD – a socially responsible, environmentally friendly and profitable project that is entering the BEAM growth market of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.
What is your next step now?
We will provide a comprehensive solution for the collection of end-of-life mattresses. We are working on a new business model that engages stakeholders – municipalities, hotels, shops and private clients. Our ecosystem includes mattress production, marketing and sales and reaches recycling.
What are the biggest challenges?
Proper collection, the logistics of transporting mattresses from homes to the recycling site and financing this complex and expensive process.
Rematrak has the only licensed mattress recycling facility in Bulgaria and the Balkans. It is located in the village of Petarch, near Kostinbrod. Our focus is on building a working business system. That is why I am looking for like-minded partners: municipalities, traders, manufacturers…
A good example is our partner Blagoevgrad Municipality. Together we analyse how this model can work in one municipality and not in others, and we look for a solution that can be replicated. Of course, the issue of financing is also on the table.
Other good practices include two retail chains that, when selling new mattresses, take the old ones and deliver them to Petarch.
We will also turn to manufacturers. They should be among the first to purchase shares in Rematrak AD.
The time will also come for a product fee.
What happens to the recycled polyurethane?
We have a new product – repren, which is yet to be certified and incorporated into new products – such as SMARTA BED and the forEVERGREEN mattresses. You can see them in our shop at 15 King Ivan Asen II St in Sofia. There you can learn more from Liliya Hristova about the products, as well as the recycling and logistics. Lili not only develops the shop but is also doing a PhD at the Technical University of Sofia on creating an innovative process in the logistics of end-of-life mattresses.
How do you see mattresses recycling developing in the near future?
First, I would like to thank everyone who has contacted us to recycle their old mattresses. I would like more people to join the ecosystem and for there to be more and more saved mattresses, municipalities to provide containers for household mattresses and transport them to Petarch, and traders and manufacturers to be more engaged.
