How does quality residential interior design and architecture change and improve the quality of life?

At LAGO DESIGN Studio, we firmly believe that good interior design makes all the difference when it comes to the atmosphere of a space. It is more than just an aesthetic choice and has a profound impact on our quality of life. Quality interior design enhances the functionality and enjoyment of the objects and spaces we interact with on a daily basis. A well-designed environment can evoke specific moods and emotions in its occupants – calm and relaxing or energetic and vibrant.

For us, this particular project presented another exciting challenge: to create a pavilion for social interaction – a special space where people can connect through sharing thoughts and feelings, listening to music and preparing and enjoying food together. These elements really bring a space to life and make it feel inhabited and alive. In addition, this pavilion project contributed to the overall organisation and optimisation of a previously unused courtyard, unlocking its full potential.

Here are the key design approaches we used in the architecture, interior design and execution of the pavilion to significantly improve the quality of life for the residents.

A personalised approach to design

A space should reflect the unique lifestyle of its occupants, providing both comfort and convenience. The bespoke approach applies not only to fashion but also to home interiors – just as a garment should be tailored to fit a particular individual, a home should be designed to enhance the experience of its inhabitants. It is not just about making a space look beautiful on its own – it is about designing it to compensate for its imperfections, ultimately creating a harmonious and highly functional form. This personalisation takes into account all the constraints – technical, structural, emotional and aesthetic – and creates a space that truly belongs to its user.

Our approach to design is driven by exploration rather than restriction – we continually seek new possibilities for each space until we find the best solution. We question every element of the interior, refining and perfecting details throughout the process. With our own furniture and object manufacturing facility, we have the unique advantage of controlling every aspect of the execution, allowing us to push the boundaries of form and material. Whether designing a kitchen, bookshelf, wardrobe or any other element, we are able to take risks and explore the absolute limits of creativity and craftsmanship.

Natural light – a home's ultimate luxury

Natural light is one of the most valuable elements in any living space, as its presence significantly enhances mood and overall well-being. The pavilion is designed with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows running the length of the facade, allowing maximum daylight to enter and creating a bright, uplifting atmosphere.

Connection to nature (biophilic design)

The aim of biophilic design is to strengthen the connection between people and nature. In this project, large sliding glass doors along the facade provide an uninterrupted view of the outdoors, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. This seamless transparency creates a sense of openness and a stronger connection to the natural world.

Open design concept

We have eliminated partitions to make the space feel more expansive and social. Upon entering, there is an immediate and complete view of the entire volume of the pavilion, enhancing the interior's sense of openness and fluidity. This layout encourages effortless interaction and brings in an atmosphere of freedom within the space.

Zoning – defining functional areas

In this interior project, we carefully structured the space by creating distinct functional zones through bespoke compositions. These include a music listening area, a cooking area and a dining area. This approach allows everyone in the space to find a comfortable spot that suits their current mood and activity preferences.

Colours – a calming palette

We chose soft blues, greens and neutrals to create a sense of calm and relaxation. These colours help to reduce stress and create a soothing atmosphere.

Sustainable design

Timelessness is the core principle of meaningful architecture. While style is highly personal, shaped by people, space, environment and an innate sense of balance, we aim to create designs that stand the test of time. We strive to create pieces that people will never want to part with, ensuring long-lasting appeal while making a small but meaningful contribution to environmental sustainability.

Quality of life

Quality of life is defined by one's sense of well-being and satisfaction. It is influenced by many factors, including the environment.

Thoughtfully designed spaces enhance this experience, creating a lifestyle that promotes comfort, joy and harmony.

Various elements can affect mood, stress levels and overall satisfaction and well-being – natural light, colour combinations, materials used, spatial organisation and even the design of details and furniture during the project's execution. The individual elements of the interior need to work together as a cohesive whole to make room for the unexpected – something special, something truly unique, which will ultimately give the space real sentimental value.

The role of architects and designers is crucial when we consider the environment in which we live. Their responsibility is to create interior spaces that evoke feelings and emotions beyond the ordinary. We strive to design spaces that create a sense of unparalleled individuality, adding value beyond the material.

A feeling that is not easy to describe. You just feel it and its constant adrenaline rush. In other words, it is not something that fades away in the environment. You want that feeling to never end, to make you feel unique and precious day after day.
