What goals and tasks have you set for yourself as the new head of the Vascular Surgery Ward? What is in the future for the Ward?
Our ambition is to attract more patients from Sofia and the country, because we have highly qualified specialists and the latest generation of equipment and technology. Our goals are linked to making more accessible highly specialised hospital services that include modern treatment methods based on the latest medical technologies.
We are going to develop and establish the latest direction in vascular surgery – oncovascular surgery. Patients suffering oncovascular diseases need a multidisciplinary approach. Our ward can offer complex treatment to this type of patients.
Which of your qualities make you a top professional in one of the most challenging fields of medicine – vascular and oncovascular surgery?
The whole range of required surgeries and interventions in patients with oncological diseases that need treatment not only of the main disease, but also of the complications, like the effect of tumour processes on main vessels, and arterial and venous reconstruction, is possible thank to my top qualification and the many courses and specialisations that I have attended.
