PROPHYLACTIC PROGRAMME AT VITA HOSPITAL SUPPORTS TREATMENT OF SOCIALLY IMPORTANT DISEASES
Vita Hospital continues its successful Prophylactic Healthcare Programme that is a part of its activities to promote general health and prevention of socially important diseases
"Preventive activities are the modern European way to rethink and refine the processes of protection and improvement of the nation's health," says Dr Tihomir Savchev, Vita Hospital Manager. "During the Covid-19 pandemic we all saw how important it is for society to realise the social, economic and health effects of preventive action targeted to timely identification and treatment of health problems. In line with the constantly growing medical knowledge, 21st century European healthcare policy is based on health promotion and the resulting prevention of diseases. Although Bulgaria is a part of international and European initiatives, it lacks an active state policy to tackle preventable health problems. When activities are implemented, they are chronically underfunded. This is why Vita Hospital and Vita Diagnostic and Consulting Center have developed their own Prophylactic Healthcare Programme."
Vita's programme includes monthly free examinations that give access to patients of all social groups to some of the finest professionals in the field and to find treatment for their disease.
Here is what Vita Hospital has scheduled until the end of 2020:
- August: free checkups for people suffering from gallstones;
- September: free checkups for children with spinal deformities;
- October: free ophthalmological checkups;
- November: free prostate checkups;
- December: free endocrinological checkups for obese patients.
The programme also includes groups for self-help and consultation on a variety of health problems, seminars, lectures and regular meetings on socially important problems.
Vita's doctors specialise in over 35 medical fields and are active participants in these events, organised by the hospital's pharmaceutical and health industry partners.
The hospital's management aims to make quality private healthcare accessible to more Bulgarian citizens and ultimately to bring Bulgarian healthcare to European level.
