All interiors created by PMP projects are instantly recognisable

Be it an apartment, a restaurant or a hotel, they always stand out with their elegant solutions, perfect balance between style and functionality, an excellent selection of materials, and timelessness.

The force behind PMP projects is Miglena Vladova, a young engineering designer with rich experience in interior and exterior solutions. She hit on that road immediately after graduating, and she gained valuable experience in established architecture studios. Her next step was to establish her own practice and to build her own brand. For years now Miglena Vladova and her team have created timeless interiors for all tastes.

Where do you find inspiration for your projects?

Our world is saturated with sources of inspiration: books, magazines, the Internet. I also get inspired at international exhibitions as there I can see and experience a lot personally. However, travel and exploring foreign cultures remain my greatest source of inspiration. Through the centuries our homes' styles and decor have dramatically changed – from practical humbleness and ascetic severity to lavish opulence and amazing futurism. The most interesting part in this story is that none of the design styles that have dominated in the past has disappeared forever after it went out of fashion. Even after its demise it can still be interpreted and reinterpreted by current trends.

Comfort, musing, cosiness and harmony between the individual and the object, and even between the individual and the yearning. This is, actually, the philosophy of interior design. The great challenge to express this philosophy with the object-symbol. A symbol of need and expectation where dream ends and reality begins.

You design both residential and public interiors. What is the biggest challenge for you?

The space's functionality is the main design goal in each new project, both residential and public. The approach towards them is the same, but the desired end-result is different and we need to consider different factors. In private interiors the task to create home cosiness is linked to the character and personality of the resident. This is why working with the homeowner is a shared experience of the functional and a compromise with the real life. In the dialogue and communication with the client the aesthetic goals should not dominate over functionality.

On the other hand, the aesthetic result is what defines a home. The owner's individuality and the designer's style should be equally visible, and this poses a huge creative challenge. In public interiors the target group is much bigger and very different. Hotels, for example, have a specific function as residential buildings. They are at the intersection of the public and the private. The large public spaces offer endless opportunities to create the desired atmosphere. Perhaps exactly this endlessness and freedom are the preferred challenge in a project.

What is your favourite current trend?

Trends mainly concern general fields in interior design such as colour combinations, styles, techniques for materialising a particular vision and particular details to achieve it. We all know that many trends come from the past in a modern interpretation. I am excited by the combination of music, painting, poetry and philosophy in the core of the design project.

The power of the trend is felt when the gaze is blinded by the stylisation and the aestheticisation of the moment and then moves to the pleasure borne by the touch to the object and the details. When you go beyond the visual and, by designing sensuousness, you achieve the effect of a designer's creation. This makes me look for innovative ideas through the prism of the classics. For me, it is important to create interiors that are immune to the changes of time and trends. Each style can last.
