The company is also an example for the human and professional qualities needed to grow a successful family business. Established by Ramona Stoyanova soon after the collapse of Communism, today in SOFITA the second generation of the family is working – the founder's daughters. Svetla Marinova is a second manager, and Elitsa Horozova and Nicole Lazarova are partners. They told us their recipe for a successful family business.

What is SOFITA's secret for a successful family business?

It is the same as the secret of any successful business – a lot of work, high-quality service, adaptability, good strategy, care for the team and perseverance. Family business, however, is unlike non-family one in many respects. Among the positive ones is the "family atmosphere" of trust, love, open communication, shared life values, being close and knowing the people in the team, and being personally invested in the family's success and wellbeing. One of the biggest challenges is to know how to separate the personal from the professional relations. The road is hard, but when the family is united by the idea of professionalism and dedication, and everyone in it aims towards objectivity and common sense, the success will not be late.

What are the benefits for your clients?

Our clients reap the most benefits because in a family business most of the "staff" are family members and the owners are involved in the operations. In other words, the secret ingredient for the successful recipe is TRUE DEDICATION. For the clients, this transforms into engagement, security, understanding of their needs and readiness to serve them in the best possible way. When clients find themselves in a difficult situation and need someone to go beyond the limitations of their working hours and strict business conditions, they can rely on us. We will be there for them.

In SOFITA now work two generations of the family. What is the input of each of them?

Symbiosis! Each generation gives the best it is capable of. The first generation provides EXPERIENCE, knowledge and wisdom, limits reckless ideas and brings stability. The second one provides new ideas, creativity, bravery, new vision, curiosity and entrepreneurship. In the best case scenario we end up with a dynamic balance and perfect symbiosis. In the less perfect scenario we have resistance and confrontation that, however, lead to discussion and NEW good solutions.

What professional and human qualities do you aim to teach the third generation?

Professional qualities are the result of the human ones – to be good and honest people, to work hard and to dream. We teach them that when you do things well and you find your talent, you will succeed. We want to teach them that when a dream comes with a plan, this means that you already have a goal. They only need to mix fervour, zeal and perseverance in their efforts and the "dish" will be an incredible success.

How do you keep your enthusiasm alive year after year?

The market and the dynamic times we are living in keep it alive. And, of course, when you see that you are needed and helpful, your enthusiasm can only grow.

Едно от най-големите предизвикателства е да умееш да разграничаваш личните от професионалните отношения. Пътят е труден, но когато семейството е обединено от идеята за професионализъм и всеотдайност, и всички се стремят към обективна и трезва преценка, успехът не закъснява.

Какви професионални и човешки качества се стремите да възпитате у третото поколение?

Професионалните качества са производни на човешките – да са добри и честни хора, да са усърдни и да мечтаят. Учим ги, че когато правиш нещата добре и откриеш таланта си, ще постигнеш успех. Искаме да ги научим, че всяка мечта с план вече означава цел. Те само трябва да забъркат плам, устрем и постоянство в усилията и "ястието" ще пожъне неповторим успех.

Как задържате ентусиазма на работата година след година?

Пазарът и динамичните времена, в които живеем, го държат. И, естествено, когато виждаш, че си нужен и полезен, ентусиазмът може само да расте.
