A residence in Thessaloniki, located in a block of apartments from the 1970s, is a perfect example for the capabilities of KOURASANIT mortars and coatings in the modern interior.
Extensive use of KOURASANIT decorative hydraulic mortars highlights the spaces and demarcates interior elements, successfully combining great looks with top quality.
Mortars from the KOURASANIT Pebble Collection were applied in the entrance hall. The single cast floor continues up vertical wall surfaces and onto ceilings with light grey mortars from KOURASANIT Rock Collection.
In the central space with the living and dining room, and kitchen, was used mortar from the Industrial Chic series by KOURASANIT. The moulded concrete on the living room walls has almost sculptural effect. In the dining room, filler coatings in earthy hues were applied and the kitchen was coated with mortar from the Rock Collection.
The guest-room's dynamic atmosphere was created with mortar from the Mars Collection. Gentler tones were used in the kids' room – the polished, single layer plaster GIAACOLOU. The hand-made sinks and the floor in the bathroom are terrazzo mortar. In the master bedroom a trowel painting technique was used to let hues from mixing the natural coloured rocks to shine. Visual diversity is achieved with colour contrasts and different textures using mortars from the Rock Collection. The uniqueness of the hand-made wash basin is impressive and conveys a sense of luxury. The guest toilet has moisture-resistant filler coating and a hand-made sink.
The project was completed rapidly thanks to the ease and practicality with which KOURASANIT mortars can be used. These flexible materials can be applied to existing surfaces without the need to remove underlying materials.
