COHERENT SOLUTIONS: DIGITAL SOLUTIONS FROM THE FUTURE

When Coherent Solutions, a leading international company for digital solutions and transformation, arrived in Bulgaria five years ago, its presence was quickly felt on the local market. For ambitious and capable IT professionals, its Bulgarian office became a preferred workplace thanks to the excellent conditions, the interesting projects, the opportunities for development and the calm atmosphere. Today, the industry is facing challenges on a local and global scale, but the people at Coherent Solutions are confident - and deservedly so, that the future belongs to them. We talked to Boyan Antonov, General Manager of Coherent Solutions in Bulgaria, to learn more.

What does the IT industry in Bulgaria look like through the eyes of Coherent Solutions? 

In the late 2022 and the early 2023 we witnessed many tech giants laying off a significant percentage of their employees because of the war in Ukraine and the accelerating inflation. Many projects and initiatives were frozen and are still on hold. I think that here, in Bulgaria, the speed of hiring new people has slowed down. But by all means our country still provides very good conditions for investment for technological companies and that the IT industry is bound to continue its growth.

What are the main trends that will dictate the development of the IT industry in the next five years? 

Currently, the rise of popularity of AI is hard to measure. Undoubtedly, IT companies are increasingly interested in AI and its application in everyday work. This trend will continue to develop and I think that it will be of help to people who are capable of using it efficiently. After mobile communications, the Internet and the dot com revolution, AI is the next big thing in our world. 

I think that Machine Learning is one of the technologies which are yet to gain momentum. As a company, we are focused on it and through our new department, Intelligent Solutions, we are doing important research and development in the field, in order to be able to create more innovative solutions for our clients.

After five years here, what is the most impressive achievement of Coherent Solutions Bulgaria in your opinion? 

Despite the challenges that the world experienced in the past few years, we managed to grow as a company with established values and a great work environment. Our biggest achievement is the creation of the local office, where work over 160 wonderful people who are enthusiastic and striving to contribute to the mission of Coherent Solutions. I am proud when I see this on a daily basis in each of them.

What is the feeling of working as a part of a global team? What are the responsibilities and tasks of the Coherent Solutions's Bulgarian team?

Working in a global team and company has many advantages. The most important is the fact that we can borrow know-how from colleagues in the other offices.

Our people in Bulgaria work in mixed teams with colleagues from all other Coherent Solutions offices, which are already present on three continents. For example, a team in the company might include a Bulgaria-based QA, a programmer in Mexico, a business analyst in Lithuania etc. Our colleagues communicate on a daily basis with our clients, most of which are in the USA. Close collaboration is important to us in order to understand in detail how we can best help the client and to offer the best solution for them.

You always put your team first. What does it mean in practice? What motivates good professionals today?

We, at Coherent Solutions, prioritise team success over individual achievements. One of our core values, Team Above Self, stresses on the importance of partnership in achieving the spared mission and goals. We recognise each team member's unique talents and strong sides and encourage them to achieve common success. In this way we create an environment where everyone can grow at their own speed and in their own way. We encourage our people to think and to make independent decisions. Of course, the technological skills required for the particular position are extremely important in a candidate's selection. Когато водещата международна компания за дигитални решения и трансформация Coherent Solutions стъпи в България преди пет години, промяната бързо се усети на местния пазар. Българският офис се превърна в предпочитано място за работа за професионалистите заради отличните условия, интересните проекти, възможностите за развитие и спокойната си атмосфера. Днес секторът е изправен пред предизвикателства от локален и глобален мащаб, но в Coherent Solutions са сигурни – и с основание, че бъдещето им принадлежи. Разговаряме с Боян Антонов, генерален мениджър на Coherent Solutions в България, за да научим повече.

Как изглежда ИТ индустрията в България през 2023 г. през очите на Coherent Solutions?

В края на 2022 г. и началото на 2023 г. видяхме как много технологични гиганти съкратиха немалък процент от служителите си поради войната в Украйна и засилващата се инфлация. Много проекти и нови инициативи бяха спрени и все още са на пауза. Мисля, че и в България има известно забавяне в темпа на наемане на нови кадри. Но при всички положения страната ни предоставя много добри условия за инвестиции на технологични компании и ИТ индустрията ще продължи да се развива.

Кои са основните тенденции, които ще диктуват как ще се развива ИТ индустрията през следващите пет години?

Популярността на изкуствения интелект в последно време се увеличи с неизмерими стойности. Несъмнено в ИТ компаниите все повече се говори за AI и приложението му в ежедневната работа. Това ще продължава да се развива и мисля, че би било само от помощ на тези, които го използват. AI е новото голямо нещо в нашия свят след мобилните комуникации, интернет и dot com революцията.

Смятам, че една от технологиите, които също тепърва ще набират скорост, е Machine Learning. На ниво компания сме все по-фокусирани върху нея и чрез новосформирания ни департамент Intelligent Solutions правим множество научноизследователска и развойна дейност в сферата, за да можем да създаваме по-иновативни решения за клиентите ни.

След пет години в страната, кое е най-впечатляващото постижение на Coherent Solutions Bulgaria според Вас?

Въпреки предизвикателствата, които светът понесе през последните няколко години, ние успяхме да се развием като компания с утвърдени ценности и чудесна работна среда. Смело мога да заявя, че най-голямото ни постижение е, че създадохме този офис с вече над 160 прекрасни човека, които са ентусиазирани и устремени да допринесат към мисията на Coherent Solutions. Чувствам се горд, виждайки това всеки ден във всеки един от тях.

Какво е усещането да се работи като част от глобален екип? Какви са отговорностите и задачите на българския екип на Coherent Solutions?

Работата в глобален екип и компания носи множество позитиви. От най-съществено значение е фактът, че може да заимстваме know-how от колегите в другите офиси.

Хората ни в България работят в смесени екипи с колеги от всичките ни офиси, които вече са на 3 континента. Така например в един екип може да има QA от България, програмист от Мексико, бизнес анализатор от Литва и т.н. Колегите ни ежедневно комуникират с клиентите, повечето от които са в САЩ. Тясната колаборация е важна за нас, за да разберем в детайли как най-добре можем да съдействаме на клиента и да му предоставим най-правилното решение.

Поставяте екипа си винаги на първо място. Какво означава това на практика? Какво мотивира добрите специалисти днес?

В Coherent Solutions слагаме приоритет на екипния успех пред индивидуалните постижения.
