Reduce, reuse, recycle: for Lindström the philosophy of responsible production and consumption is not just a mantra but a successful business model. The Finnish company for workwear and textile rental has been in Bulgaria since 2009 and is preparing to open a new service centre in Plovdiv. Emilia Drenkova, Sales and Key Clients Manager, shares more.

How is Lindström leading the fight for more sustainable development and business today?

Sustainable development is embedded in Lindström's corporate philosophy. Our business model is based on rental instead of sales. Following the principles of the circular economy, each item goes through a cycle of repeated washing, drying, repair and finally recycling. This is why every detail of the design is made for maximum durability and the possibility of repair. Our services allow our clients to focus on their core activity while meeting their environmental goals. Lindström's sustainable practices help companies reduce their carbon footprint by using less water, energy and detergents.

Why is rental workwear the more sustainable alternative for a business?

The model removes the need for companies to purchase large quantities of garments that remain unused or wear out quickly. Our service adapts to the client's specific needs, providing exactly the right amount of clothing that is professionally maintained, repaired and reused. Professional laundering uses less water, energy and detergents, reduces waste and provides a higher level of hygiene. Our service also gives flexibility when the client's business changes or expands. Thus, companies not only save money but also contribute to a more sustainable future.

How does the opening of a second service centre in Plovdiv fit into the overall development strategy of Lindström Bulgaria?

The upcoming opening of our second service centre is a strategic step that will allow us to increase our capacity and be closer to our clients in Southern and Eastern Bulgaria. It is part of our long-term vision to expand our presence in the country and provide sustainable services to businesses. We believe that local presence will help build trust and lasting partnerships. Plovdiv is a natural choice because of its dynamic development and industrial zone. We are also investing in the centre's sustainability with new technologies that reduce the consumption of energy, water and detergents, along with charging stations for e-vehicles as we gradually shift to electric deliveries.
