The founders of Awesomesauce build their marketing strategies on the understanding that creativity should serve meaning before it serves aesthetics
From strategic creative direction to brand building and website development, to social media marketing designed to deliver measurable results, Awesomesauce is a trusted partner for businesses that want to stand out in today's rapidly changing world. The founders of this boutique marketing agency, Elena Kaneva and Victoria Karoleva, seamlessly combine the competence and expertise they have developed across both the Bulgarian and international markets with a clear vision for applying it across a range of companies, from startups to established brands.
Creativity as a corporate philosophy shines in the very name Awesomesauce. How and why did you choose this name?
Elena Kaneva: Awesomesauce comes from a phrase people use in their daily lives. That was the whole point. We didn't want a "corporate" name, we wanted a reaction. The kind of word someone says when something exceeds expectations and earns a real smile.
The name has reflected our philosophy from the very beginning – that creativity isn't decoration, it's a way of thinking. For us, good marketing should not be complicated, it should be clear. It should not exist to impress only industry professionals; it should work for real people and real businesses. Awesomesauce keeps us grounded in that standard: that excellence comes from meaning, not from noise.
Your previous professional experience spans both Bulgaria and international environments. What does this combination bring to the company?
Victoria Karoleva: It gives us a balance between big-picture thinking and practicality. Our international experience has taught us structure, strategic discipline and working with clear objectives and measurable results. The Bulgarian market, on the other hand, has made us flexible, adaptable and highly sensitive to the real-world constraints that businesses face.

At Awesomesauce, this translates into the ability to communicate complex marketing ideas in a clear, accessible way and to adapt them to each client's reality. Whether we are working with an international company or a small local business, we approach every project with the same level of commitment.
What is the most important thing you always do when rebranding?
VK: Before we think about the visual side, we seek understanding. For us, rebranding does not start with design, but with questions: why does this brand exist, what role does it play in people's lives, and what promise does it make that it can truly deliver.
Only when these answers are clear does the visual identity begin to make sense. This way, rebranding transforms from a surface-level change into a strategic alignment that helps the brand become recognisable, consistent, and sustainable over time.
And when you develop a digital strategy?
EK: A digital strategy always starts from the reality of the business. Not from trends or platforms, but from goals, resources and audience. We analyse how people behave, how they make decisions and where it makes sense to invest time and effort.
For us, a good digital strategy is a system, not a to-do list. It should be understandable to the client, measurable in terms of results and flexible enough to evolve alongside the business rather than becoming a burden.
What is the role of AI in Awesomesauce's work, and how do you integrate it into your clients' marketing?
EK: AI is a powerful tool, but on its own it is not a strategy. Right now, we see many businesses using it for content without a clear understanding of how or why – the result is often quickly produced, but uniform and bland marketing.

At Awesomesauce, we take a different approach. For us, AI does not replace the idea; it amplifies it. We use the technology to optimise processes, speed up content creation, and free up space for strategic and creative thinking. Human expertise remains at the centre – it sets the direction, context, and meaning.
What is your vision for the development of Awesomesauce in the coming years?
EK & VK: Our dream is for Awesomesauce to become a community, not just an agency – a place that brings together marketing professionals, entrepreneurs and small businesses that want to grow consciously.
We want to build an academy for practical marketing knowledge, where people can learn, share experiences and gain access to expertise that is often out of reach for small businesses. We believe knowledge is the most powerful tool for sustainable growth.
We also plan to develop an AI Content Studio within Awesomesauce. As more companies are using AI for content, many do so without a clear strategy or understanding, which leads to boring and impersonal brands. Our goal is to create a model where AI supports the idea rather than replacing it.
Ambitious, maybe, but in the long term our goal is to build Awesomesauce into a hub that makes marketing knowledge more accessible, offers real support, and where creativity and technology work together for the benefit of people.
