CELEBRATING 200 VAGABONDS

Over a hundred Bulgarian and foreign diplomats, entrepreneurs, media personalities and former Vagabond Media members of staff braved the rainy afternoon of 15 June to celebrate with Vagabond's team the magazine's 200 issue

The party, at the Sofia Press Gallery in Central Sofia, was combined with a photography exhibition of some of the finest photographs published in the magazine through the years.

Two great friends of Vagabond, media expert Georgi Lozanov and US bestselling author Elizabeth Kostova, gave speeches that underlined Vagabond's importance against the background of the Bulgarian media landscape. Both Lozanov and Kostova indicated Vagabond, Bulgaria's English Magazine, was instrumental in making Bulgarian natural, historical, cultural and ethnic heritage known abroad. As such, it directly facilitated incoming incentive travel.

"We are particularly happy and proud that in times of trouble for the printed media – not only in Bulgaria, but globally, we succeeded not only to stay afloat, but to expand our activities," said Anthony Georgieff, the managing editor. "Our main goal is to keep informing everyone interested in Bulgaria about its politics, culture, nature, history and entertainment possibilities and, of course, the opportunities for doing business and travelling here – in plain English."

Vagabond Magazine's first issue was published in October 2006. Its presence in the Bulgarian media market has been possible thanks to its unique editorial mix, its audience of diplomats, expats, top managers and decisionmakers, and the continuing support of the America for Bulgaria Foundation.

The team that makes Vagabond Magazine possible is also behind a growing portfolio of high-quality books dedicated to Bulgaria's natural, cultural, religious and ethnic heritage.

Among those in attendance were Slavina Slavova and Tugce Bolukbas of Turkish Airlines; Tsvetana Kasabova and Lenko Lenkov of the America for Bulgaria Foundation; Magdalena Valova of the Eurolex law firm; Sonya Zheleva, director of Alliance; Cvetanka Frateva, Greenpoint; Maya Nedelcheva and Radoslav Stefanov of Ethnobuldesign; Maria Ilieva, the prima of the Bulgarian National Opera; Dobromira Manasieva, founder of Wellness Studio Figura Spool; Anita Chemshirova, founder of Paint Me Paint & Wine Studio; Nadejda Pavlovitch, corporate communications of the Zagorka company; Anton Slavtchev, managing director of Avision Young; Teodora Stoyanova, Intesa; Denitsa Kirkova, manager of Crystal Spa & Wellness; and many others.
