The labor market is dynamic. It is not a secret that millennials are more likely to change jobs than baby boomers. That pays off for them as job switchers have higher wage growth than those who stay at one job. To achieve that though, workers will need to be adaptive and have sufficient general skills.
As a French, working in a multinational company, I have been working with a lot of people from different nationalities and cultures and I can boldly say that there are many highly skilled people in Bulgaria. Young people are motivated and willing to learn new things. That's only one of the reasons our Global Team mainly consists of Bulgarian experts. Most of them have been working at the company for almost 10 years.
At the IT managed services and solutions sector of Modis, we are proud to have built an environment not driven by siloed thinking. Instead, it's fueled by a diverse group of industry and market specialists, who learn from each other, develop skills through collaboration, and create ideas that propel us all forward. But it is not as easy as it sounds due to the labor shortage.
What are the trends influencing the managed services industry? Do you see any challenges?
The main trends influencing the future of the Managed Services industry are Cloud Computing, Data Security, Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Automation and Digital Transformation. Managed Services organizations will need to significantly increase their functional and technical capabilities in these IT segments to better manage their clients' problems and requirements. In this respect, one of the major challenges we face is the scarcity of resources. Transforming our workforce with intensive training and assessments will be instrumental. In order to achieve these objectives, we have implemented a large variety of employee engagement initiatives and different up-skilling and re-skilling programs.
How does the staff training and development affect the Modis business in Bulgaria?
We design our programs to support the company strategy and our people to perform, succeed and develop their knowledge, professional practice, careers. To boost performance, we blend class-room type of learning, intensive practice, on the job training, self-paced learning and micro learnings. It is the DNA of Modis Bulgaria to grow our talents.
We have a strong focus on innovation and in 2017 we launched the Modis Innovation and Automation (MIA) Lab. Every day employees create new products, methods and ideas, in response to global trends to meet increasingly complex client needs and maximize efficiency. Modis Bulgaria has invested in tools, systems and resources, and launched a series of innovation and automation projects and initiatives to further improve its capacity to transform and optimize service and cost of delivery. We created the MIA Lab essentially to respond to the rising demands from our clients to seek different and more innovative ways to drive efficiency initiatives in the business. The MIA Lab has been focusing on removing repetitive work by utilizing Robotics Process Automation. This has enabled us to free up resources, enabling our people to work on higher value-added activities.
Thanks to our efforts and the results achieved in the past several years, our business was noted for best innovations, global presence and experience, talent management, upskilling practices and career growth opportunities, and CSR initiatives in the sector. Modis Bulgaria was honored with the Outsourcing Service Provider of the Year 2019 award at the Southeast European Innovation, Technology and Sourcing Summit last month.
Congratulations! And speaking of innovations and efficiency, what is your strategy for the next year? Are you planning to expand your business in Bulgaria or you are looking for new markets abroad?
We are already working on the expansion of the company on the local market. Historically, Bulgaria was the first major managed services or outsourcing services delivery center of the Adecco Group. After having been in operations for over 12 years under the Adecco brand in Bulgaria, Modis was established to position our service offering within the IT managed services and solutions field, developing a better brand awareness on the market.
The combination of the availability of highly-skilled IT experts, strong language skills, excellent level of quality of service and also a very favorable economic and fiscal environment are the main reasons for our continued efforts to invest in Bulgaria. Regarding this, we are happy to announce that we are now opening a second major Delivery center in Sofia and a new office location in Plovdiv.
In the EMEA region Modis has planned to further expand and open new Delivery centers in Romania, Poland and Portugal.
In general, how do you see the future of managed services and specifically for Modis Bulgaria?
Firstly, we are confident in the future of our business in Bulgaria. Secondly, we are planning to continue investing in people to ensure that we are "fit for purpose," aligning our people's skills sets with the dynamic and constantly changing requirements of our clients.
