In 2015, the American aromatherapy company dōTERRA recognized the potential of Bulgaria as a producer of essential oils. Through the Bulgarian company Esseterre it invested in the country, building a distillery for the processing of useful herbs and plants such as lavender, melissa, yarrow, coriander, frankincense, myrrh and summer savory. Essential oils extracted by Esseterre are used to produce dōTERRA products. This distillery also experimented with crops such as sandalwood and birch bark, for example, to add new oils to the mother company's product list.
Esseterre's mission is to develop a successful business practice, supporting sustainable agriculture in Bulgaria. To reach out to disadvantaged children and young people to find a life realization, to be a partner of the local communities. The company is managed by dedicated Bulgarian specialists and works directly with dozens of local manufacturers.
