Two Italian artists, the painter Armando Arpaja and photographer - and also current Italian ambassador to Sofia - Stefano Benazzo, have united for a joint exhibition, the And Behind the Doors and Windows? show.

With their images of doors and windows, the two artists express the same kind of desire to explore the invisible. What interests them is the inhabitants of the houses, their tastes, their ambitions, dreams and disappointments. In developing his own approach to the same kind of imagery, Benazzo reveals part of his path to finding the unseen.

Armando Arpaja has travelled the world and shown his work in a number of countries, including Greece, France, Egypt and the United States.

Stefano Benazzo takes his first photograph of the Acropolis in 1961. Half a century later, experimenting with different forms of art, he combines some of his photographs of Washington houses with Arpaja's oil paintings.
