Four short Beckett pieces, played in Sofia in the original by Irish students – this sounds like a real treat to the aficionados.

The Dublin playwright is well-known in Bulgaria, but the performance in the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, or NATFIZ, will feature less familiar work, united by themes of fidelity, justice and resistance. The four plays – Play (1964), Come and Go (1965), Catastrophe (1979) and Beckett’s last theatre piece What Where (1983), are grouped under the title Ethica and features theatre students from Trinity College Dublin, who come on a Bulgarian tour after a successful premiere in Dublin. Co-directed by Nicholas Johnson and Marc Atkinson, the Bulgarian performance is a result of the cooperation between the Embassy of Ireland in Sofia and TCD Association and Trust.
