The American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton detoured to the medieval Boyana church in Sofia during her official visit to Bulgaria on 5 February.

Despite the tight schedule of the five-hour visit, which included talks with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov as well as meetings with NGO representatives, Mrs. Clinton found time for a guided tour of the church in the company of the American Ambassador to Bulgaria James Warlick. The Boyana church, built in the 10th Century, is placed on the UNESCO World Heritage list for its well-preserved frescoes from the 12th Century with high artistic and cultural value.
