Me and specially my Bulgarian friends enjoy very much reading every issue of Vagabond, followed by sometimes strong discussions (depending on the quality of "angels' pee" that have been consumed). But it always ends with fun and wisdom, and a new world order! SUCCESS!
Do you know how I can purchase a chushkopek to use in the United States? I have searched online without any luck. We love roasted peppers and would love to have one of these. Thanks!
Vagabond: We are so happy that you like The Great Bulgarian Invention, which was rightly nominated in a TV show as one of the landmark discoveries of the Bulgarian genius. Sadly, we do not know of any particular chushkopek importer into the United States, but you are giving us a very good business hint!
Ephesus is probably one of the most important and most beautiful cities for Early Christianity in western Turkey. It is not mentioned in your text, but the Ephesus Museum has fantastic historical items and monuments. Hotels are starting from 15 euro per person per night. One good news for friends from Bulgaria is that there are direct coach services to Izmir City from Haskovo and Kardzhali. Ephesus takes just 45 minutes from Izmir by public buses.

To have the title of a "saviour" of the Bulgarian Jews has always been attractive especially to those who are in power. It is a subject, which is discussed nowadays with different arguments in favour of King Boris and many efforts are made to whitewash the deeds of his pro-Nazi Government. The tribute has to be paid to the Bulgarian nation, but all those who adopted and implemented the anti-Semitic law for "protection of the nation" should be excluded from this noble act. This includes former King Boris, who knew very well that with this law and the agreements with Nazi Germany he practically sentenced the Jews in Macedonia, northern Greece and southern Serbia to death.
No evidence of his interference to stop the operation to send these people to extermination camps has been found, but there are still speculations. Some people want to "steal" one of the most glorious acts of the Bulgarian nation and pass it on to a "royal" head to turn it into a beautiful fairy tale.
