You were told that cheap beer taken in ample quantities at the seaside was its main asset? Think again.

There are (still) some pristine beaches in Bulgaria's maritime stretch and plenty of fun is to be had there for those willing to explore beyond the purpose-built organised tourism resorts around Varna and Burgas. Some of them are in nature reserves, some are just along the road – all yours just for the pulling over.
